58th Annual Salute to Navy Luncheon
San Diego is home to the largest concentration of military in the world. It is the homeport to over 60 percent of the ships of the U.S. Pacific Fleet, and over one-third of the combat power of the U.S. Marine Corps. There are over 100,000 active-duty Navy and Marine Corps personnel assigned to the ships and bases in the San Diego region. These courageous women and men continue to defend our freedom on a daily basis while facing operational deployments in frequencies that are unprecedented in our nation’s history.
Through the vision of Captain Bob Mereness, National City began this October tradition in 1957, jointly celebrating the Navy's birthday and community members from the US Navy. It is the oldest tribute to the navy in the nation, bringing together civilians, navy commands, sailors, and elected officials. Naval Base San Diego and the City of National City share a unique partnership. We work together on community clean-up projects, business development opportunities, civic engagement, and workforce development activities. National City recognizes the incredible economic impact that the Department of Defense facilities, personnel, and equipment generate in the San Diego region.
This year we honor our military by sharing artistic and culinary expressions of National City' diverse culture. Our guests will be greeted by live mariachi music, enjoy appetizers from the meditteranean, sway to folkloric dances, and indulge in signature dishes from the Phillipines and Mexico.
LUNCHEON IS $50 PER TICKET. Your sponsorship enables us to invite 150 sailors on a complimentary basis to enjoy this special celebration.
