Big Bay Boot Camp
The Port of San Diego is proud to announce the Big Bay Boot Camp, an upcoming event that will take place on the waterfront.
On Sunday, May 20, 2012 Port of San Diego water front parks will host fitness activities including a variety of fitness and exercise instructional classes, mini-“boot camps”, and high-intensity workouts, all on the same day. Individual activities will cater to individuals of varying ages - from children to seniors - and multiple levels of fitness, from the casual athlete to the true fitness buff. Most activities will require no prior training or experience.
Dozens of different fitness experiences will be offered at Pepper Park in National City. Programs are free and generally take place between 6 a.m. and noon.
Military trainers, local gyms, YMCAs, commercial “boot camp” providers and college and professional sports team representatives are all being invited to participate by offering sessions as well as set up promotional displays or occupy booths.
The goals of the Big Bay Boot Camp are to:
- Provide a set of fun, free fitness opportunities that attract people to San Diego Bay
- Introduce the Port of San Diego’s parks to people who are not familiar with them and showcase the parks as locations for holding fitness activities
- Enhance community relationships through peoples’ interactions with the Port and local professional and college sports teams
The Big Bay Boot Camp is one of the projects in the Port of San Diego’s Waterfront Activation Program designed to bring a variety of cultural, recreational and social experiences to San Diego Bay.
